Migration · Zid → Shopify

Zid to Shopify,
planned around your busiest season.

Zid merchants tend to move once the store needs custom front-end work, deeper integrations or multi-market selling. Timing matters as much as mapping: a migration landing in the weeks before Ramadan or White Friday is a risk nobody should take.

Quick answer

How long does a Zid to Shopify migration take?

Usually three to six weeks: about a week for the audit and data export, one to three weeks to build the Arabic and English theme and integrations, and a week of testing orders, payments and redirects. We schedule cut-over outside Ramadan, Eid and White Friday peaks.

A migration plan built around the calendar

Freeze window

Product and price edits pause for a short, agreed window so the final export matches the live store.

Delta import

Orders and customers created between the first import and go-live are imported again at cut-over, so nothing falls in the gap.

DNS cut-over

The domain moves at a low-traffic hour, with the old store kept available read-only in case an order needs checking.

What changes for your team

Theme editor

Merchandising, banners and landing pages move into Shopify’s theme editor, with sections designed for your campaigns.

Apps instead of add-ons

Features used on Zid — loyalty, reviews, bundles — are matched to Shopify apps, or built custom where the app fees do not make sense.

Order handling

Fulfilment, COD confirmation and courier booking are set up in Shopify’s admin, and we train the team on real orders before launch.

Why ZaadBooks matters here

The move is a good moment to stop reconciling orders by hand. With ZaadBooks connected, each paid Shopify order becomes an invoice and each refund a credit note, and product records flow into inventory.

Questions

Zid:
common questions.

When is the best time to migrate from Zid to Shopify?

After a peak, not before one. We plan launches at least four to six weeks clear of Ramadan, Eid and White Friday so the new store has settled before the traffic arrives.

Do my product URLs change when leaving Zid?

Yes, Shopify uses its own URL structure, such as /products/ and /collections/. Every Zid URL that has traffic or links is redirected to its new address with a 301 redirect.

Can I keep my domain name?

Yes. Your domain is pointed to Shopify at cut-over. Email hosted on the same domain is unaffected if DNS is changed carefully, which we check beforehand.

Will Shopify work with Saudi couriers?

Yes. Couriers such as SMSA and Aramex connect through Shopify apps or their APIs for rates, labels and tracking, and we set up whichever carriers you already have contracts with.
